Early in May I did a online webinar by Róisín O'Farrell, and set myself a goal of doing 15 art pieces by end of the month. In her "The Honest Truth Masterclass" she explains 3 key foundation principles to set on a creative journey. The most important to me was the "Doing the work" principle. It is so important to create a volume of work. One thing that has been stopping me from regularly doing or being consistent in producing art is being a critic. Aiming for everything I create to be perfect, results in the fact that I end up creating nothing.
Hence After following Róisín's workshop I set out to create more art work, hoping to make around 15 pieces in a month. Although I did not meet my goal, I still managed some of it. For me the most important thing was I stepped aside from my definition of 'perfect" and just followed my passion. Some of the pieces were created with my daughters. Which meant I had such a good time. For the first time, in long time, I focused on the 'now', creating happiness not only for myself but for my girls. I did not have a preconceived idea of creating, but just went with the flow. There was only pure joy in the moment.
The creative projects also involved writing a blog. My last blogs on "My fitness journey" and "Happiness" is also part of this voyage. Both blogs are very personal and aim to share my story and experience. It was not easy for me to let people in my life, especially when I am not used to it. The feeling of laying myself bare in front of strangers was scary and fear of vulnerability. This was a first step to break away from my old habit and stepping up for a 'New Habit". I will leave that concept for another blog to share.
Some of the pictures are below for you to enjoy. I need to keep the momentum and move forward on the creative journey. Next blog will focus on some of the DIY ideas that I have undertaken in the picture gallery below.
